Why should I register with AREMT?
In trying to have a unified system of tracking and recording nationally and Internationally trained EMTs, comparable to the US NREMT system, this will lift the level of recognition of EMTs in the country and gain you recognition with International EMS organizations and other registry agencies. We have begun negotiations with offshore EMS services and other paramedicine services, to be able to also use AREMT as an international registry base for particularly Australia, South Pacific, South East Asia, Asia and also UK applicants.
Requirements:
EMT-Basic (EMT-B) Requirements
- Applicants must be 18 years or older to register
- Successfully complete, within the last two (2) years, an approved Standard EMT-Basic education program, as developed and promulgated by the U.S. DoT, Australian health training packages and International approved EMT-B level programs.
- Approved EMT-B level program examples include;
- Certificate IV in Health Care (Ambulance) HLT41007
- As specified by the National Highway Safety Traffic Administration (NHSTA) with certification from the National Registry of Emergency Technicians (NREMT)

EMT-Intermediate (EMT-I) Requirements
- Applicants must be 18 years or older to register
- Successfully complete, within the last two (2) years, an approved Standard EMT-Intermediate education program, as developed and promulgated by the U.S. DoT, Australian health training packages and International approved EMT-I level programs. Or;
- EMT-B qualifications with 12 months experience plus successfully completion of training to immediate level, with 100 hours of field or clinical practice, verified by an approved EMS Assessor and documented evidence.

EMT-Paramedic (EMT-P) Requirements
- Applicants must be 18 years or older to register
- Successfully complete, within the last two (2) years, an approved Standard EMT-Paramedic education program, as developed and promulgated by the U.S. DoT, Australian health training packages and International approved EMT-P level programs.
- Approved EMT-P level program examples include;
- Diploma in Health Care (Ambulance) HLT51007
- Bachelor of Health Science (Paramedic) or equivalent
- As specified by the National Highway Safety Traffic Administration (NHSTA) with certification from the National Registry of Emergency Technicians (NREMT)

EMT-Intensive Care Paramedic (EMT-ICP) Requirements
- Applicants must be 18 years or older to register
- Successfully complete, within the past (6) years, that equals or exceeds the behavioural objectives of the National health training Curriculum or its equivalent UK IHCD, Australian State or Territory Intensive Care Paramedic programs and US Department of Transportation paramedical training programme.
- Approved EMT-ICP level program examples include;
- Advanced Diploma in Health Care (Ambulance)
- Graduate Certificate or Diploma (Intensive Care Paramedic)
- Diploma of Remote and Offshore Medicine
- As specified by the National Highway Safety Traffic Administration (NHSTA) with certification from the National Registry of Emergency Technicians (NREMT)

Fee and Re-Registration Criteria:
- Registration fee set for each level includes merchant process fee, initial registry assessment, and practical assess skills, registration, identification and registration certificates/emblems.
- Re-registration annually after completion of initial registry assessment, with evidence of completion of currency skills at the appropriate EMT level.
- Upon receipt of registration fees, AREMT will arrange for an appropriate assessment to be conducted by AREMT or its designated Regional Assessment Coordinators unless assessment has been covered during initial EMT courses for approved training providers.
